Shariah Training

It is also the responsibility of the Shariah sector to conduct internal training for the Shariah officers to equip the staff with the most up-to-date skills and knowledge in related to Islamic Banking and Finance.

1. Intensive Course of Fiqh Muamalat from The View of Shafi’I for Shariah Officers

Bank Rakyat has carried out a comprehensive internal program aimed at enhancing the knowledge and comprehension of Shariah principles among its Shariah fellowship. Located at Pullman Hotel on the 15-19th August 2023, Bangsar, the intensive course on Muamalat from the perspective of Mazhab Shafi'i was attended by four (4) members of the Shariah Committee and thirty-two (32) Shariah officers. This intensive training on fiqh muamalat involved officers from the Shariah Sector, Shariah Audit, Shariah Review and Shariah Risk. The course was led by Sheikh Dr. Amjad Rashid, a renowned Shariah scholar and the dean of the Al Shafi'i Jurisprudence Faculty at the World Islamic Science & Education University (WISE) in Jordan.

2. Train of Trainers (ToT) for Shariah Officers 1.0 & 2.0

The Shariah Sector has conducted two (2) series of Train of Trainers (ToT) programs as part of the training program to develop modules that can be presented to the stakeholders of the Bank, especially to the branch. With the Bank’s branch now reaching 148 branches across the country, it has come to attention that the Shariah culture and principles must be strengthened in all aspects of staff’s operation. Upholding and demonstrating Islamic principles in daily operations is critical for providing clients with a comfortable and fair experience while avoiding potential fraud or integrity issues.

Following this endeavor, numerous modules were successfully designed and delivered to the branch leaders via special engagement sessions in the regional meetings
