CO-OP CARD – a multifunctional card with huge benefits

The CO-OP Card project is an important initiative to Bank Rakyat. It was created with the aim to increase and expose cooperatives to greater economic activities especially linking them to a potential 6.5 million cooperatives members throughout the country.

1) What is the CO-OP Card programme?
a. The CO-OP Card programme is a collaboration between Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Rakyat) and Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) in offering a multiple function cooperative card (CO-OP Card) to over 6.5 million cooperatives members in Malaysia.
2) What is CO-OP Card?
a. Issued by Bank Rakyat, CO-OP Card is an ATM card with a chip and it combines the functionalities of ATM, MEPS e-Debit, Discount and Loyalty into one card.

3) What are features of CO-OP Card?

Features Explanation
ATM
  1. Cardholders can perform the following banking transaction at ATM and CDM:
    1. Cash Withdrawal/ Deposit,
    2. Fun transfer / Bill payment.
    3. Tabung Haji Services
    4. i-Rakyat registration and
    5. other transactions allowed by the bank e.g. changing withdrawal limit..
MEPS e-Debit
  1. Cardholders can make payment at merchants under MEPS e-Debit network.
Discount
  1. Cardholders are eligible to enjoy discount at "merchant" who part of the Bank's panel.
  2. Cardholders must show your respective CO-OP Card before making a purchase to enjoy the discount offered. The discount is offered only for purchase.
Loyalty
  1. Cooperative members will enjoy reward points.

4) What are the conditions to apply for CO-OP Card?
a. Applicants must be 18 years old and above.
b. Open to only registered cooperatives members.
c. Applicants must have Bank Rakyat Tawfir Savings Account.
d. Bank Rakyat members are eligible to apply.

5) Where can I get CO-OP Card?
a. Applicants can apply and get their CO-OP Card at any of Bank Rakyat branches.

6) Am I allowed to have CO-OP Card if I am already a RAKYAT Card cardholder?
a. Customers can ONLY have ONE ATM CARD either CO-OP Card OR RAKYAT Card at any one time. RAKYAT cardholders can change their card to CO-OP Card at any of our branches.

7) What are the related charges for CO-OP Card?

8) How can I get information about "Merchants" and the discounts offered by them under CO-OP Card?
a. CO-OP Card Cardholder can source for the information from the following:
i. CO-OP Card "Merchant",
ii. Bank Rakyat branches, and
iii. Bank Rakyat website at www.bankrakyat.com.my

9) What are the differences between RAKYAT Card and CO-OP Card?

a. Applicants will receive their ATM RAKYAT Card on the same day.
1. Bukan Day One Card
a. Applicants will received their CO-OP Card within T+ 5. (T being the application date.)
Conditions 1. Open to all Bank Rakyat Tawfir Savings Account holders. 1. Open to:
a. Registered cooperative members only (including Bank Rakyat members); and
b. Bank Rakyat Tawfir Savings Account holders.
Facilities 1. Banking transactions at Bank Rakyat ATM / CDM as well as MEPS ATM network.
2. MEPS e-Debit services.

3. Enjoy discounts on purchases made at CO-OP Card merchants.

" KAD CO-OP
1) What are the benefits of being CO-OP Card "merchant"?
a. "Merchant" will be invited to participate in events / road shows related to CO-OP Card organised by Bank Rakyat.
b. "Merchant" will received free CO-OP Card "Decal" as recognition and for marketing purposes.
c. The brand, logo and information about the "merchant" will be included in promotional items related to CO-OP Card.

2) What are the responsibilities of CO-OP Card "merchant"?
a. "Merchant" must offer attractive discounts for the products and services offered to CO-OP Card cardholders.
b. CO-OP Card logo and brand will be used in all promotional activities, advertisement and media announcement or in channels deemed appropriate by both parties.
c. "Merchant" will invite the Bank to participate in events organised by cooperative or deemed as appropriate by both parties.
d. "Merchant" will invite the Bank to participate in road shows organised by cooperative or deemed as appropriate by both parties.
e. Cooperative will remain as "merchant" as long as it fulfils all the conditions set by Bank Rakyat.

3) What are the conditions to become CO-OP Card "merchant"?
a. Cooperatives must be registered with Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia.
b. Cooperatives must operate the related business for 1 YEAR.
c. The products and services offered are Syariah-compliant (Halal).
d. Able to offer attractive discounts to CO-OP Card cardholders.

4) In what forms can the discount be offered to cardholders?
a. The discount offered is solely at the discretion of the "merchant". The discount can be a percentage off the total purchase or the selling price of a product.
5) What are the documents required to become CO-OP Card "merchant"?
a. Agreement form (signed and chop).
b. Brief company profile.
c. Cooperative registration letter from Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia (SKM)
d. List of products with discounts.

6) Will Bank Rakyat charge any fee to CO-OP Card "merchant"?
a. Bank Rakyat will not charge any fee to interested cooperatives who want to be a merchant under this programme.

7) How does a "merchant" inform CO-OP Card cardholder on the discounts offered?
a. A list of discounts will be published at Bank Rakyat website at www.bankrakyat.com.my or any appropriate media by the Bank. "Merchant' can forward the list of discounts to: -

9) What will terminate the membership of a "merchant" under this programme?
a. Appointment of a "merchant" is based on the agreed terms and condition under CO-OP Card programme. A "merchant's" appointment will be terminated if the "merchant" fails to uphold all the conditions agreed in the CO-OP Card agreement.
